IISER Aptitude Test(IAT)Coaching
About the Examination:
- IAT Coaching scores are used for admission to the Indian Institutes of Science Education & Research for BS-MS Dual degree or BS degree & PhD programs in science and research.
- It is conducted by IISER itself.
- It is a computer based test(CBT) , conducted online.
- Total 60 questions are there in the test with duration of 3 hours.
- Marking scheme: +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each wrong answer and 0 marks for unanswered question.
- Subjects covered: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.
- It is conducted once in a year.
- IISERs also take students on the basis of the score of JEE (Advanced), though major section of the students are admitted on the basis of IAT score.
- IAT paper consists of total 60 questions with 15 each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology.
- The examination is based on the NCERT syllabi of XI & XII.
- Mathematics is a must in XI & XII for studying BS in Engineering Sciences or Economics Sciences.
- Students seeking admission to IISER must score minimum 60 % (General/OBC/EWS) or minimum 55% (SC/ST/PwD).
- Presently 7 campuses of IISER are functional – IISER Pune, IISER Kolkata, IISER Mohali, IISER Bhupal, IISER Thiruvananthapuram, IISER Tirupati, IISER Berhampur.

- To do well in board examination (more than 90%).
- To do well in CUET, IAT examination for confirming a Seat in top colleges offering courses on basic science.
- To develop strong foundation in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, so that higher studies become smoother.

Phase-I (Class- XI)
- Conceptual understanding with derivations and proofs.
- Application based learning for developing problem solving skill.
- Covering the syllabi keeping NCERT as guideline and getting students oriented with advanced reference books.
- Regular doubt solving session.
- Weekly chapter based proficiency test.
- Monthly cumulative phase test in the exact pattern of CUET , IAT and Board.
Phase-II (Class- XII)
- Completing the syllabi faster.
- Intensive revision and test taking skill development in advanced level problems.
- Imparting skill needed to write board specific answers for conceptual, long type and numerical questions.
Phase-III
- Practicing DPPs of higher difficulty level.
- MOCK tests in the exact pattern of CUET , IAT & Board Examination.
- Practicing DPPs on board type questions.
